Staff Spotlight- Kelly Altman
This is Kelly's sixteenth year teaching. She began her teaching career as a special education teacher in Georgia, where she taught for seven years before relocating to the Fairfax County area. Kelly has been employed for nine years by Fairfax County Public Schools. She was a classroom teacher at Key Center for eight years- 2 years in the 17-22 program, 2 years as a specials teacher (Bodyworks) and then 2 years as an elementary teacher. This school year, Kelly left the classroom and began working as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired. We are fortunate that one of Kelly's assigned schools is Key Center and she continues to support our students!
Kelly's favorite thing about Key Center is the support that our staff provide to each other. She also appreciates the expectation for each student to receive challenging, rigorous instruction, meeting their individual needs.
When not at work, Kelly enjoys traveling, checking out local restaurants, and spending time with family. She and her husband, Jared, have a two year old daughter, Amelia.
